Once there, Austin had one reaction after stepping off the plane. “It was a huge airport.” Ludolph stated. “Way bigger than Minnesota’s.”

A trip oversees can be for many reasons, but for others it’s as simple as going to visit someone they know. For Austin and Cole Ludolph, they recently took a trip to the Netherlands where they were not only in search of some family history, but also paid a visit to a former exchange student that the Ludolph family hosted when Austin was a senior at Murray County Central.

Austin Ludolph graduated from Murray County Central in 2007 and during that year, Netherlands native Femke Lutz came to America and stayed with the Ludolph family as part of the foreign exchange student program and attended MCC as well. After they both graduated in the spring of 2007, Lutz went home to the Netherlands where she finished more school there. The Ludolphs kept in contact with her during the years after her stay in Slayton, up until the spring of 2013 where a plan was made to travel over there to see her.
