“There are lots of ways you can help,” Dezeeuw explains.  “If a person had more hours they could do a lot more!  And it keeps you going,” she says.  “I like it.  You’ve got a job to do and you do it.”

Even though admittedly Carol Dezeeuw gets very little done at her own home, she loves her volunteer work at the Lake Wilson clothing store and various other locations immensely.  “I just enjoy helping the people and it’s fun!”

What more could someone ask for in a job?  It’s a labor of love that she has been involved with for the last sixteen years and shows no sign of slowing down.

In fact, Dezeeuw logged more than 700 hours of volunteer hours last year alone, and for that she was recognized for the second year in a row as Murray County’s volunteer of the year recently at the Retired Senior Volunteer Program dinner held in Fulda, on September 26,

The bulk of her days are occupied with helping to run the clothing store, affectionately known as “The Boutique”, in Lake Wilson where she heads up a small volunteer labor force.
