students enjoy American experience at Murray County Central


Gielke Beerkens has joined the ranks of the Murray County Central senior class. Beerkens, a foreign exchange student from the Netherlands, has made her American home with John and Lisa Sweetman, daughter and two sons. She has an older brother, Bert - 20 years old and two younger brothers (Guss - 17, and Tys - 13) back home along with her parents, Victory and Marlie. Her mother works as a therapist and father works with construction figuring costs of various projects.

Gielke said her home community is a little bigger than Slayton, however, the mode of transportation for people of her age is mostly by bike.
