After the first meet of the year was postponed due the heat indexes around the area, the first official race the Rebels competed in was in Tracy for the annual Panther invite. With many returning faces, as well as some new faces, the first meet is always a guideline for what the runners need to work on and what their limits are. Both Rebel boys and girls teams, ran a good first race.

The first Rebel runners to race around the course were the junior high members and four boys were featured in that race. In the mile run, Nathan Schuck of Worthington was the overall winner at 7:21 while the first Rebel to cross the finish line was Jack Peterson in 10th place. His time was 7:56 for his first cross country race. Cameron Kresko finished right behind Peterson in 11th with 7:58 as his time.

Other MCC runners that finished in the junior high boys race were Cale Engelkes with a time of 9:50 and Jake Bleyenberg with a time of 10:24.
