To be on display at Slayton Public Library

A lifetime of art appreciation is the legacy left to her family by Rose Setterberg, of Slayton, upon her death at this time last year.  Remarkably, the bulk of the collection was created by well known artist, Carl Georg Setterberg, who illustrated and created paintings of all sorts from the 1920s until the time of his death in 1982.

Local Setterberg family members Dorothy Bloemendahl, Eleanor Norton, Loretta Pryor and Fran Pederson, all nieces of Rose, find themselves the curators of this remarkable collection, and will be lending it for display  at the Slayton Public Library's art gallery.  The collection will eventually be split up and given to various family members, but before that happens, it will be shared for the public to appreciate in a two-month exhibit.

The tale of how Rose and her sister, Ruth, came to know about Carl G. Setterberg is both interesting and somewhat unbelievable.  Both sisters lived in Boston for the bulk of the year, though traveled to Slayton for frequent sojourns.
