Celebrating Berneva Johnson at St. Ann's

Berneva was, and is, the only woman to serve on the board of County Commissioners in Murray County.
By JoAnn Biren Murray County News Staffwriter Berneva Johnson would have liked her funeral. She would have enjoyed talking to and exchanging hugs with the people who came to share in the final farewell for this special matriarch of the Johnson family who not only led her family of seven children (Deanna, Rod, Rhonda, Doreen, Rory, Lynn, Rick) and 14 grandchildren and eight great-grands, by example, she was instrumental in the making of many important decision that affected people in Murray County and beyond.

Yes, the County has lost another of those hard working, strong-willed citizens who helped guide through active participation.

Year after year, in the northeast corner of the blue commercial building Berneva sat with others in the DFL booth and handed out literature and shared her belief in why this party should lead not only the county and state, but the entire country.
