attends 45th (1967-68) class reunion
Written by Gail Larson-Lange

Slayton High School Class of 1968 had their 45th reunion last weekend. It was special because Maria Elena Valenzuela-Pemjean was able to come to the reunion from Chile. Maria was the foreign exchange student here in the 1967-68 school year and lived with the Kenneth Larson family. “Sisters” Maria and Gail Larson-Lange were reunited because classmate Randy Christiansen shared his accumulated flying miles to buy Maria a round-trip ticket.  He’s an amazing friend!

In the 45 years since we last saw her, Maria attended university, taught English to young children, got married, became mother to a daughter and a son, and now has two grandchildren, and hopes to have more.
