in national sheep showing
Dave Herrig and son, Jake, recently returned from Sedalia, Missouri where they showed the champion ewe. This is the third show they had attained highest honors. “Alot of guys look at this like winning the ‘Triple Crown’ in the sheep industry,” said Dave.

According to organizers of the show, it is believed this is a first time accomplishment.

“We are really pleased with how well our sheep are doing this year,” continued Herrig. They also had a sheep place ‘best consignment’. “This one was on my ‘bucket list’,” said Dave. Judges look at how the sheep place throughout the show and determine the best consignment. Not only did they win best consignment, but also the final three places of the day. Though not as rare as a triple crown, receiving the consignment award is another once-in-a lifetime-accomplishment — especially, said Herrig, at a show the size of the Midwest Stud Ram Sale.
