1917 - Mildred Irene Gleason - 2013

Mildred Irene Sykora was the younger of the two daughters of Louis and Ella (Polzin) Sykora. She was born on August 13, 1917 in Jeffers, Cottonwood County, Minnesota, and grew up in the Jeffers and Currie area where her father was involved in the farm implement business. Millye worked as a telephone operator following her school years. On July 5, 1946, Millye married Earl Raymond Gleason of Currie, Minnesota at Zumbrota, Minnesota. To this marriage were born two daughters, Diane and Donna. About 1948 Earl and Millye moved their family to Windom, Minnesota leaving in 1959 to live in Rapid City, South Dakota, and subsequently moving to Detroit, Michigan in 1966. After her husband's retirement from Chrysler Corporation in 1981, they continued making their home in the Detroit area where Millye enjoyed babysitting their two great-grandsons and they were members of Ferndale United Methodist Church. In 2001 they moved to Bradenton, Florida to be near their daughter Donna. Earl died there in October 2006. On June 4, 2013 Millye, 96, passed away at the Westminster Towers Nursing Center in Bradenton where she had been a resident for seven years.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane (David) Hammond, Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Donna (Bill) Johnson, Bradenton, Florida; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband and parents, her sister Avis Berreau preceded her in death.
