holds dedication Friday night
Heins Park in Lake Wilson was rededicated on Thursday, June 14. The evening began with a meal donated by Monogram Meats, Diane’s Cafe and Dan and Trish Dysthe. The speaker for the evening was Janet Timmerman who gave a history of the park which was started in 1940. A 40 acre field on the east side of the town was a WPA project and was to include a girl’s kittenball diamond, boy’s kittenball diamond, baseball diamond, football field, tennis court, ice skating rink, trap shooting grounds, and a nine hole golf course. According to the Lake Wilson Pilot in April of 1939 it was purely a community affair, with no monetary gain to any individual for the benefit of the the youth of Lake Wilson and community, and many civic organizations.
