GET the DIRT

June 19, 2013

Information provided by the University of Minnesota Extension Service.
By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener

If mulching a tree, donít pile mulch around the stem (trunk). This will allow for proper drainage and help get water to the roots. You donít want this to look like a volcano.

Prune lilacs, azaleas, forsythia and other flowering shrubs only after they are done blooming. This will help maximize the bloom.

Remove dead or damaged wood from shrubs or trees anytime.
