discusses loaning funds to Slayton Economic Development to build a speculation home

The city council Monday night discussed loaning the Slayton Economic Development Authority (EDA) $175,000 to build a speculation home located in McCord's Addition in town.

The funds, City Clerk Josh Malchow explained, would come as an interfund loan from the water fund.  Council member Lee Lokker expressed concerns about spending money on the loan instead of putting more dollars into infrastructure repair around the city.  Malchow noted that there are several improvement projects planned for this year already using the water fund excess balance.
