Funeral services were held at First Covenant Church in Worthington, MN on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Stewart officiating.

Evelyn Erstad was born on January 6, 1919 in Ruthton, Minnesota to Einar and Kristi Bjelland Risting. She grew up on the family farm near Ruthton and graduated from Balaton High School in 1935. Evelyn then attended Northwestern Bible School in South Minneapolis, Minnesota.  On January 11, 1941 she and Reuben Erstad were married at the Skandia Evangelical Free parsonage in rural Balaton, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed the Erstad family farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota and raised their 13 children. They retired in 1974 but remained on the farm until 1984 when they moved to Worthington, Minnesota. Reuben passed away on October 27, 1991. In 2009 Evelyn became a resident of the South Shore Care Center in Worthington and passed away there on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the age of 94. She was a member of Skandia Evangelical Free Church in rural Balaton and in her younger years Evelyn sang in the church choir and was active with the Women’s Missionary Society. While living in Worthington Evelyn attended First Covenant Church in Worthington. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Scrabble, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and singing.

Survivors include her 13 children: Karen Erstad, Rosemount, MN, Kenneth and Sharon Erstad, Welch, OK, Eldon and Jan Erstad, Maple Lake, MN, Harvey and Peggy Erstad, Burnsville, MN, Ruth Erstad, Bloomington, MN, Neil and Cheryl Erstad, Plymouth, MN, Gerry Erstad and Ruth Kruger, Worthington, MN, Lois Erstad, Fulda, MN, Carol and John Duve, La Jolla, CA, Roger and Suzanne Erstad, Fergus Falls, MN, Myron and Laurie Erstad, Mankato, MN, Lyle and Nancy Erstad Palatine, IL and Dean and Anne Erstad, Janesville, WI; 32 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reuben; daughter-in-law Lorraine Erstad, and one brother Emmett Risting and his wife Ellen.

Funeral services were held at First Covenant Church in Worthington, MN on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Stewart officiating. There will also be a service at the Skandia Evangelical Free Church in rural Balaton, MN at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Peterson officiating. The pallbearers are her sons. Interment is at Skandia Cemetery rural Balaton, MN. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit
