Slayton City Council

Clean up efforts and Days of ‘87 celebration discussed
By: Rebecca Hudson Murray County News Staffwriter

City crews are in the process of picking up fallen trees and limbs within the city, Public Works Director Darwin Johnson said Monday night at the Slayton City Council meeting.  Residents should place their branches parallel to the streets on the boulevard and they will be picked up between now and April 29 Johnson noted. Trees along the boulevard will eventually be trimmed when time allows.

City Clerk Josh Malchow announced that nothing has been completely finalized on the former auction barn site.  Though this is the case, he said, the issue is not dead for the site.

Discussion about the Days of '87 celebration  was led by council member Chris Jacobson who had visited with Draft Horse Show organizer, Joe Biren, who expressed some concern about activities competing directly against the other should the city choose to hold its celebration on the same weekend.
