Five Murray County Central Speech members qualify for state meet

As the season went on, each speaker fine-tuned his or her speeches and grew stronger with each meet.

Speaking in front of a crowd is one of the biggest fears that humans have to this day. However, there are a select few that make speaking in front of a crowd seem as easy as counting to ten. Recently, five young ladies showed no fear at all and delivered dominating pieces at the Section 3 Speech Tournament, which punched their ticket to the State Speech Tournament coming up on Saturday.

At the beginning of the season, those that participate in speech select a category from the thirteen MSHSL divisions. The categories that the students are able to select from include humorous interpretation, serious poetry interpretation, serious prose Interpretation, duo interpretation, serious dramatic interpretation, extemporaneous reading, extemporaneous speaking, storytelling, great speeches, informative speaking, original oratory, creative expression, and discussion.
