Former Murray County Commissioner William Sauer passes away

Sauer served as a Commissioner for District 5 (City of Fulda, and Bondin and Belfast Townships for twenty years.
Former Murray County Commissioner, William (Bill) Sauer passed away on Monday evening, March 25th.

Sauer served as a Commissioner for District 5 (City of Fulda, and Bondin and Belfast Townships for twenty years. He was honored at the December 17, 2012 Southwest Minnesota Chief Elected Officials Board (CEOB) meeting for his 20 years of dedicated service.

Prior to being elected as the commissioner for District 5 in 1992, Sauer served for six years as the zoning administrator for Murray County.

Sauer was an Army veteran. He served his country while stationed in New York City and at Fort Bliss. He married Joan Margaret Diekmann, on October 24, 1955 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, St. Kilian, MN.

The couple have three children: Bruce and his wife Barb live at Albert Lea, MN; Barry and wife Kerry live at Lismore, MN; Thomas and wife Patricia reside at Ames, Iowa. There are nine grandchildren.
