2013 Custom farming rates available

Many farmers in southwest Minnesota hire some custom field work done each year. Others may perform custom work as a business or as a means of getting the most return out of their machinery investment. And, others likely rent equipment from time to time to complete certain fieldwork tasks. But, what is a fair price for these services and/or equipment?

The 2013 Iowa Farm Custom Rate Survey serves as an excellent guide for producers looking for this information. The document lists average prices and price ranges for a wide variety of custom farming practices including tillage, planting, spraying, fertilizer application, grain harvesting, grain drying and storage, forage harvesting, complete custom farming, and well as other miscellaneous services.
