U of MN Winter Crops Day and Small Grains Tour

Weekly ag column by Mike Boersma County Extension Educator with the U of M Extension Service in Murray and Pipestone Counties
The University of Minnesota Winter Crops Day and Small Grains Tour is a great opportunity to hear the latest University-based research and information about corn, soybean, and small grain production issues. The first half of the day will focus on corn and soybean production and farm business management and the afternoon topics will focus on small grain production issues.

The program will be held at the Slayton Pizza Ranch on Thursday, February 21st. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the program running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With morning topics covering tillage, weed management, ag business management, and pest management, there's sure to be something for everyone.

Jodi DeJong-Hughes, Extension Educator based out of Willmar, will present information on shallow tillage and some of the implications that go along with it. Meanwhile, Liz Stahl, Crops Educator in Worthington, will present, “When Good Weed Control Goes Bad”.
