Slayton has always been one of her favorite towns, new Sunrise Terrace Director Marsha Hansen admits. "It's been like a second home to me," she says. Hansen's grandparents, lived here and she recalls many trips to visit when she was a youngster, the eighth of nine siblings. Now she is delighted to be working in Slayton at the independent living facility as its new director.
Hansen says she has always enjoyed being around the elderly and has a history of working in human services, including helping to set up the Maple Estates in Fulda several years ago. "They have time and they want and need attention," she observes of older folks. And Hansen is quick to fill that need with a warm smile or humorous story.
