1936 - Marlin Duane Miller - 2013
“Pee Wee”
Marlin Duane “Pee Wee” Miller, the son of Louis and Mildred (Jacobson) Miller was born May 30, 1936 in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. He graduated from Lake Wilson High School. Marlin’s youth was spent working on the family farm. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1960, and was stationed in Alaska. Marlin was united in marriage to Ellen Matthews on September 7, 1958 at the Tracy Church of Christ. The couple originally made their home in Balaton, Minnesota where Marlin worked at the John Deere shops in Balaton and Marshall, Minnesota. The couple then moved to New Ulm, Minnesota where Marlin was employed by Bob Dittrich Trucking for many years. He also worked for WW Black Topping and Four Seasons Truck in Mankato. Marlin has always been known as a loyal, hardworking man. While the children were growing up, vacations to Northern Minnesota were special to family. He enjoyed hunting with his family, caring for his lawn and garden and working on his friend’s farm. His passion was repairing John Deere two cylinder tractors. Marlin and Ellen have been long time members of First United Methodist Church. On January 15, 2013, Marlin Duane Miller went home to our Lord, after fighting COPD for several years. He passed on surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, New Ulm, MN ; daughter, Juli Sands (Tom) Eden Prairie, MN and their children: Michelle (Jeremy) and Ryan; sons: Duane (Nancylee), Lafayette, MN, Donald (Theresa), Norfolk, NE and their children: Dylan and Hailey, and Brian (Kristal), New Ulm, MN and their children: Nathan, Kelsi and Madison and great grandchildren Brenden, Briana, Bryan and Bryce. Marlin is also survived by siblings, Louise VanLeeuwe (Bob), Louis Miller Jr., Grace Hart (Doug) and many nieces and nephews. Marlin was preceded in death by his father Louis Miller; mother Mildred Miller; brothers Maynard, Allan and Jerry.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, MN with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating. Burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
