According to the latest Crop Weather report, released July 9 by the USDA National Ag Statistics Service, most of the major crops in Minnesota are progressing ahead of normal and are doing quite well. However, the recent lack of rain across most of the state has been reflected in the crop conditions, as the crops are rated slightly lower than they were the previous week.

For example, corn is rated 18% “fair”, 62% “good”, and 15% “excellent” this week. In last week's report, those same figures were 14%, 63%, and 19% respectively. The ratings for most other crops were similar and generally show an increase in the amount rated “fair” and a decrease in the number rated “excellent”.
