July 11, 2012

In Slayton this Saturday and Sunday
It’s right around the proverbial corner, the sixth annual Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show! The event will be held for two days, July 14 and 15th, at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton.  The gates at the fairgrounds open at 8:00 a.m. both days with the show on Saturday taking place at 3:00 p.m. in the arena on the fairgrounds and the show on Sunday taking off at 12:30 p.m.

A special tribute has been placed inside the the draftbook honoring Don Haubrich. His tribute is in memory and honor of one of the Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show's very first sponsor - Don Haubrich, (and Pepsi-Cola Bottling, Pipestone)  who died at the age of 79 on January 25, 2012.  Don was born on November 7, 1932 in Holland, MN and at a young age he and his family lived in the Woodstock, MN area where Don attended school until the fourth grade.  The family's next  move was to Lake Preston, SD.  The family was in Lake Preston for one year when their father died.  They moved to Pipestone and Don graduated from Pipestone High School in 1951.
