The advertising is up and running for the Christmas season even though Thanksgiving doesn’t come up on our calendars until next week. Not surprising I guess, as I have seen Christmas items in stores for quite some time. I will do what I usually do, ignore the warning signs that the day is approaching and my gift purchasing should be done, and run around like a person who is oblivious to what is going on all around; chicken with head cut off, quickly comes to mind. Oh well.
One night last week I had the television on and a commercial for a jeweler came on. I quicky grabbed the box of kleenex and sat down to watch. A mother was rocking her small baby, who was sound asleep, the Christmas tree in the background. All else was dark. Her husband could be seen coming into the room. He asked quietly if the child was asleep and his wife nodded, and he reached around and turned on the lights on the tree. His words of Merry Christmas were met with a look of wonder from the women, although she did remind him that it was only 2 in the morning. That didn’t seem to deter him.
