| finalizes personnel appointments and winter coaching assignments | |

A recent donation of $13,405.77 from the Elsie R. Cole estate will establish a scholarship fund for MCC graduates who are going into the teaching field. Cole, according to Elementary Principal Sally Berg, taught fourth grade for many years. "Education was her life," she said. A number of other recent donations were recognized by the school board at Monday evening's meeting, including $125 for the athletic activity fund from the children of Donald Grieme. A total of $1,050 was received to be used for the Elementary SMART room, and several local donations were made for the American Education Banquet.
Personnel appointments for this school year included the approval of a contract with Title I teacher Carolyn Prins for 12 percent time. The appointment of Sue Bau as Senior High Knowledge Bowl coach was made for the replacement of Melissa Biren, who tendered her resignation from that position. Assistant Speech coaches will be Lori Gunnink and Tina Bengtson. The approval of Director for the fall musical was made for Chad Felton, and Assistant Director for Kristin St. John. Instrumental director is Brenda Whitehead.
