RECIPES FOR: Slow Cooker Lasagna; More Than Everyday Cookies; Apple Dumplings | |

About this time of the year we often think about the Armistice Day blizzard of 1940. I remember bits and pieces of it although as a child it didn’t bother me too much except we didn’t have school. We had pheasant hunters from Minneapolis, friends of my uncle Monroe. Because of their positions at 3M in the cities they weren’t supposed to be both gone at the same time. It was difficult for them to contact anyone because of the phone lines that were down. If I recall, they tried to connect through Omaha and other ways to send the message they were stranded in southwest Minnesota. We had other storms since then but none as severe as that one. Apparently, the weather changed quickly and many were not prepared or realized it would be so devastating. We certainly are enjoying the weather this week and expect it to stay this way for some time yet. Weather in Minnesota can be exciting as we never know what the next week will bring.
