1945 – Daryle Eugene Hassebroek – 2018
Daryl Hassebroek was born on April 26, 1945 in Sibley, Iowa to Howard and Tena Venenga Hassebroek. He grew up on a farm northwest of Bigelow, MN until 1961 when the family moved to a farm near Wirock, MN. Daryl graduated from Fulda High School in 1963. On October 30, 1964 he and Sandie Miller were married. They had two children, Julie and Bruce. On July 3, 1969 he was inducted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He and Sandie divorced. On September 20, 1969 he and Georgia Gerber were married. Following his honorable discharge on April 2, 1971 he returned to the Wirock area. He and Georgia later divorced. On August 27, 1977 he and Margo Payton were married. To this union another son was born, Tony. He and Margo later divorced. Daryl farmed north of Wirock until he retired in 2001. Daryl and Tony were on the National Tractor Pulling Circuit (NTPA) from 2006 until 2010. Daryl spent many hours working on restoring and collecting classic and antique International Tractors. Daryl was in a band called the Jolly 4 where he played the concertina. Daryl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing karaoke, and playing cards.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Tony and Marie Hassebroek of Wirock, MN, Julie Laporta of Aurora, CO, and Bruce and Shawn Boomgarden of Worthington, MN, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Marge Clark of Slayton, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, Benjamin Bruce Raudenbush and one brother-in-law, Tom Clark.
Memorial Services will be at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Dave Erickson officiating. A private interment will be held. Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday.
