        Corrine Zenk was born on October 11, 1932, in Cherokee, County, Iowa to Aloysius and Ellen Toner Staver. She grew up near Cherokee, Iowa and graduated Valedictorian from Quimby High School in 1950. Corrine graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. On December 28, 1953, she and Cyril “Cy” Zenk were married at Maryhill Church in rural Cherokee. Following their marriage, they moved around while Cy was serving in the United States Army. In 1956 they moved to a farm northwest of Slayton, Minnesota and raised their three children. Corrine worked at the Murray County Hospital in Slayton and as the Murray County Public Health Nurse. She later served as Director of Nursing at the Murray County Hospital. Corrine retired after 40 plus years of nursing. Cy passed away on June 30, 2004. Corrine remained on the farm until 2005 when she moved to Slayton. On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the age of 84, Corrine passed away at the Golden Living Center-Slayton. Corrine was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton and a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Corrine served on the Slayton School Board for 10 years. She also was a member of the Brookside Circle and the Monday Study Club. She loved to garden, cook, bake and took many entries to the Murray County Fair. She was famous for her dill pickles. Corrine enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Ann Zenk and Jerry Bliss, Des Moines, IA, Steve and Sue Zenk, Hadley, MN, Maureen Walker and Steve Worthington, Eden Prairie, MN; eight grandchildren: Rory Bliss, Tyler Bliss, Ellen Bliss, Amy and David Kathman, Kelly and Chris Nelson, Michelle Zenk, Quintin Walker and Zane Walker; two step grandchildren: Immogen Worthington and Sam Worthington; eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Isaiah, Olivia, and Gabriel Kathman, Grace, Sophia and Ethan Nelson, and Cy Zenk; six brothers: Don and Ardelle Staver, Aurelia, IA, Dick and Barb Staver, Spirit Lake, IA, Jim and Janet Staver, Spirit Lake, IA, Doug and Donna Staver, Longmont, CO, Dean and Lolita Wichita, KS and David and Sara Staver, Rockwell City, IA; two sisters-in-law: Betty Staver and Shirley Staver both of Cherokee, IA; one brother-in-law Ed Gross, Meriden, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cy; grandson Nick Zenk; two sisters: Joyce Gross and Jocille and her husband Louie Ricklefs; and two brothers: Jerry and Paul Staver.

  Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The organist was Matt Vortherms. The song leader was Lori Dahlhoff with special music by Steve Worthington and Emily Kathman. The pallbearers were Quintin Walker, Zane Walker, David Kathman, Chris Nelson, Isaiah Kathman and Tim Ricklefs. Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
