Justin Clarke and Aaron Johnson, both juniors, earned top honors in their respective events at the subsection meet held in Pipestone on Thursday, May 23rd. The top four places along with the next best qualifying time advance to the section meet to be held in Luverne this Thursday, May 30th. Those bolded will be competing this week.
Clarke toured four laps of the track covering the 1600 meters for his best time of the season at 4:45.20 – nipping Brayden Tofteland’s 4:46 time. He also placed fourth in the 800 meters run as well as the long jump (18’4.5”) and will advance to the section meet in all three events.
Aaron Johnson cruised the 110-meter hurdles and crossed the finish line at 15.81 to claim first place. Johnson will advance in the 100-meter event clicking off a time of 11.89 for the second place finish. He later earned the fifth place spot in the 300-meter hurdle event.
