Charles “Chuck” Barrett, the son of Charles Wesley Law and Vergina Stripling, was born on March 3, 1940 in Hollandale, Minnesota. He was adopted by Irvin and Luella (Stripling) Barrett in 1945. They lived in Missouri until 1948 when they moved to Slayton, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. In 1962 he married Sharon Isch and together they had one child, David and they later divorced. Chuck was united in marriage to Karen Likness on October 7, 1963. After their marriage he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was an instructor in Data Processing and over the next six years they were stationed in Key West, Florida; Frankfurt, Germany and Long Branch, Neew Jersey before making their home in Slayton in 1969. He had many jobs in his lifetime, including Lambert Lumber Building, Titan Homes, PPG in Marshall, Minnesota and lastly Midwest Supply in Slayton, where he retired from in 2014. Chuck passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, Minnesota at the age of 77. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton where he served as an usher. He enjoyed woodworking, car restoration, racing, working outside and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Karen Barrett, Slayton, MN; four children: David Gustafson, New Richmond, WI, Lance (Judith) Barrett, Burnsville, MN, Gina (Larry) Diekmann, Slayton, MN and Julie (Lenny) Diekmann, Wells, MN; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four siblings: Joyce (John) Jans, Dundee, MN, Jeanie Forsberg, Sioux Falls, SD, Sonny (Susie) Beebe, Sioux Falls, SD and Marilyn (Chuck) Berdan, Belle Fouche, SD. He was preceded in death by both sets of his parents; sisters: Linda, Sharon and Vicki; brother Arden and brother-in-law John Forsberg.

Memorial services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 with Rev. Doug Minton officiating. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN. Send condolences online at www.totzkefuneralhome.com.
