Carolyn Kay Azad – Obituary

  Carolyn Azad was born on March 20, 1959 in Slayton, Minnesota to Clarence and Gladys Ree Feste.  She grew up on the family farm near Balaton, MN and graduated from Ruthton High School in 1977.  Following high school Carolyn attended North Hennepin Community College in Minneapolis, MN graduating in 1979.  On July 11, 1981 she and Alishah Azad were married at Ellsborough Lutheran Church in rural Balaton.  Following their marriage they made their home in Tuscaloosa, AL for one year.  They then moved to Brooklyn Park, and later Bloomington, MN.  Carolyn worked as an office manager and in international sales at Nuaire in Minneapolis until 1996.  In 1998 they moved to Orono, MN.  Carolyn passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home in Orono surrounded by her family at the age of 58.  Carolyn enjoyed making lefse, gardening, yard work, cooking, baking, kayaking, picnicking shopping, and cheering on the Minnesota Wild hockey team.  Carolyn was a compassionate, caring and loving person.  She was happiest caring for others.

Survivors include her husband, Alishah Azad of Orono, MN; two children, Christopher Azad of Orono, MN, and Emily Azad of Madison, WI; her mother, Gladys Feste of Slayton, MN; five siblings, Clare and Deb Feste of Lake Wilson, MN, Karen and Terry Dahleen of East Bethel, MN, Curt and Marian Feste of Balaton, MN, Kermit and Nancy Feste of Sioux Falls, SD, and Corrine and Charlie Herrig of Comfrey, MN and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her father.

Funeral Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kuze officiating.  The organist is Pat Onken with special music by Heidi Winter.  The pallbearers are Alishah Azad, Christopher Azad, Emily Azad, Terry Dahleen, Glenn Ylitalo, and Ted Ylitalo.  Interment is at Ellsborough Lutheran Cemetery in rural Balaton, MN.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.  To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
