Danny Blankenship traveled to St. Paul to take on the best in the state at 113# in Class AA. His opponent was Carson Tschudi from Delano. Danny faced off against his opponent on Friday morning.
Danny started off the match with a nice shot and tried taking him down, but his opponent defended Danny off well and put Danny to his back. Danny tried fighting him off but the referee slapped the mat for a pin.
Now Danny had to wait to see if he had another match. In the state tournament if you lose to your first opponent that person needs to win his next match so that you have an opportunity to wrestle again.
Well, Danny’s opponent from Delano failed to win his next match so that eliminated Danny from the tournament. Danny finished the year with a 23-14 record and some valuable experience.
Congratulations to all of the Warrior wrestlers on a hard fought year. You all improved and that is the main objective.
