Giving back to the community is important to Amy Woldt, the new Slayton Area Chamber director. Woldt, who resigned her community education position this past spring and is ready to give back in a new way.
Amy began working at Murray County Central in 1999 as a secretary for community education which spanned over 20 years on and off with the last ten years serving as community education director.
When Ryan Beers left the director position, Woldt applied and was selected to replace him. Over those ten years, her job was to not only organize class offerings to the area, but a great deal of her time was dedicated to organizing youth sporting opportunities.
She was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and due to this health issue took a leave of absence in the fall of 2018 and returned in late spring of 2019. Woldt decided perhaps she needed to focus more on her health and left the position. Initially the intention was to take a year off, however, when the Slayton Chamber director position became available, Woldt felt the job might be a nice fit. “The number of hours the position requires works well,” shared Woldt. She is excited to continue to work with the community – just in a different capacity. “It’s a little different focus but yet much of the same concept as the community position plays into a factor in this job as well.”
