1952 – Alan Arthur Felber – 2018
Alan was born on July 24, 1952 to Sidney and Genevieve Felber in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. His family moved to Lake Wilson, Minnesota where Alan went to school through eighth grade. The family moved to Slayton, Minnesota and Alan graduated from Slayton High School in 1970. He furthered his education attending colleges in Bemidji and Mankato, Minnesota. In 1972 Alan was drafted into the United States Army and served in South Korea as a radio operator. After his Honorable discharge in 1974, he worked with his two brothers, Sidney and Bryce, siding homes and buildings in Minneapolis, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Alan and Beverly Furan were married on November 25, 1978 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in December of that same year. Alan worked as a carpenter in Phoenix, ,building many residential and commercial projects. In 1983, Alan built their home in Cave Creek, Arizona where he lived until the time of his death. In 1987 Alan began to work for the Arizona Registrar of Contractors as a Chief of Licensing and then was the Assistant to the Director until his retirement in 2009. He then worked as a consultant, helping contractors through the license application process. First and foremost, Alan was a devoted follower of Christ and a devoted husband and father. Those who knew him would say that he was truly a representative of the living love of Christ. Alan used his passion for the outdoors to the glory of God. He was often out on Bartlett Lake with his wife, kids, and grandkids, fishing, camping or enjoying the water. Alan enjoyed quail, duck and pheasant hunting with his brothers, son, daughter, and son-in-law. Alan was blessed with many talents and hobbies including reading, a love for auto mechanics and carpentry, which was demonstrated to his wife and children. Aside from building their home of 35 years, he regularly provided maintenance on any vehicle or home – he was the family’s regular handyman. Alan Arthur Felber went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2018 at the age of 65. Alan will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Alan is survived by his wife Beverly, Cave Creek AZ; his children: Joshua (Lisa) Felber, daughter Julia (Shane) Cunningham, Britt Felber, and Alana Felber all of Phoenix AZ; grandchildren: Marli, Dylan, Nikolas, Willow, and Kaitlyn; mother, Genevieve Felber, Slayton, MN; brothers: Sid (Joan) Felber, Blaine, MN, Bryce (Teresa) Felber, Slayton, MN; sister Marilyn Ruppert, Colorado Springs, CO; brothers-in-law: Don (Phyllis) Furan, Donahue, IA, Doug (Lona) Furan, Hopkins, MN, Greg (Trish) Furan, Scarborough, Ontario Canada; sister-in-law Ann (Bob) Spartz, Rushford, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Sidney; sister Madilyn Nelson; and mother-in-law Betty Furan.
A celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 9:00 a.m. at the Desert View Bible Church, Phoenix AZ. Interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona followed the service.
