The Rebels had a good start to their game against the Adrian Dragons last Thursday. Unfortunately for the Rebels, the Dragons found a way to come back late where a walk-off single in the bottom of the single was the difference in the game.
The Rebels got the scoring started in the top of the first inning when Nate Everson led off with a ground ball single up the middle before he quickly stole second base. An error in the field allowed him to go to third base which set up a great opportunity for that first run. After a pop out to short for the first out, Danny Blankenship hit a fly ball to center field that allowed Everson to tag up from third base and plate the first run of the game for the Rebels.
After multiple scoreless innings and great defense in the field by both teams, the Rebels added to their lead with a couple more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Matt Woldt beat out an infield single and stole second base, just like Everson did in the first inning. A sacrifice bunt allowed Woldt to scoot to third base before a single up the middle hit by Everson gave MCC a 2-0 advantage. Everson again stole second base and with two outs in the inning, Blankenship grounded a hit to the left side of the infield that allowed Everson to plate the third run of the game.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the rally for the Dragons began as they tallied two runs of their own. Those two runs cut the lead down for MCC to 3-2. Both teams remained scoreless in the sixth inning, and in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Dragons found a way to finish off the game despite being down on the scoreboard.
