Currently, the Adrian Dragons sit all along at the top of the Red Rock Conference boosting an 8-0 record with an overall record of 22-2. The Dragons were in Slayton Tuesday, October 8th to do battle with the Rebels. Murray County Central quickly learned why their opponents hold the record they do. There wasn’t much the Adrian squad did wrong. The Dragons prevailed in three straight on scores of 25-11, 25-8, and 25-16.
Bryn Hoekman nailed a shot to put the Rebels on the board in the game to tie the game at 1-1. Later Amber Boock, after a long rally, was finally able to put down a spike to pull the Rebels back within one, 4-5. It seemed, however, for every point MCC earned, Adrian tallied at least three. The Rebels were held in check with five points on the board with the Dragons moving forward to claim 13.
A couple of errors on Adrian gave a little nudge to the MCC score. Holding the Rebels at bay while on nine, Adrian rallied to put the game point on the board leading 24-9. MCC gained a little life as Hoekman put down a spike and an ace , bringing the total to 11. This was all the home team could muster and Adrian went on to claim the 25-11 victory.
In the second game of the night, the Dragons put up six quick points capitalizing on the Rebels’ poor passing, errors in determining where the ball was or not being able to return the ball.
