Murray County Central drama director, Brenda Whitehead, describes the spring play as light and entertaining. “We try to find something that’s has a little comedy.”
Princess Capers is a tale about five princesses who awake and find themselves bored with their lives. Cindy (Courtney Tutt), Snow (Kelly Dahlhoff), Beauty (Josie Harms), Briar Rose (Rachel Siedschlag) and Florine (Symone Harms) embark on an adventure to save the kingdom from rap-obsessed, supervillain Delusia (Vanessa Dahlgren) whose dancing minions are stealing the youth of all the children in the land and turning them old.
It begins at a cafe with Hanzel and Gretel, the Three Bears, the princesses, and a couple of random customers. The spoof interweaves several fairy tales into one. It is at this point the princesses decide to go out on their adventure. Delusia makes an appearance as well and starts to turn people old.
With the help of exercise guru Rumpel Stiltskin (Jake Bleyenberg) and the Big No-Longer Bad Wolf (Dante Damm), they may stand a chance, but only if the narrators (Cale Engelkes, Alyssa Boynton, and Rylan Behnke) can remember how the story goes. Along the way, the princesses meet Little Red, Goldilocks, as well as Jack and Jill.
