The Friends of the Slayton Public Library are excited to try a new event for their annual fundraiser as they look ahead to spring. For more than a decade, the group has organized The Chocolate Affaire for Valentine’s Day and, with generous support from the community, has used the proceeds for improvements and items beyond the library’s regular budget. Funds raised in recent years allow library patrons to enjoy a Keurig brewer with complimentary beverages, a Culligan water cooler, educational toys and activities in the children’s section, and new furniture and updates to the teen area, among other additions. While the Chocolate Affaire has been successful for many years, the group is very enthusiastic to host their new spring function.
This year, the Friends of the Slayton Public Library invite the community to join them for a Mother’s Day Tea at the Dinehart-Holt House on Saturday, May 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music performed by local musicians and a menu of fun, formal treats for high tea surrounded by the charm of the historic Victorian home decorated for spring. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase in April and May at the Slayton Public Library as well as at the door on May 11th. This is a perfect occasion to celebrate the special women in your life while also supporting your public library!
