Court Queen of Peace #1558

Court Queen of Peace met on a cold ‘after 10 inches of snow’ Saturday morning on January 19, 2019, with 16 members in attendance. Joanne Halbur read an inspirational message, more like a New Year’s resolution list, from Pope Francis. Lisa Kremer, the founder of Dream Catchers, spoke about the program that encourages leadership in immigrant families for children ages nine-15. The students learn communication skills, teamwork, scripture and a desire to serve and become advocates and activists for those in need as well as issues of immigration relative to the participants.

Regent Risacher thanked Lisa Ackerman, Jan Bryan, and their committee for the tasty meal offered prayer and the flag pledge.

Father Thien Nguyen pointed out the importance of the Hail Mary by praying the rosary daily, in particular, ‘delivering us from evil’ – the devil.

Committee reports included Jean Eich who reported 69 members with Judy Andrews and Deanna Konkol joining soon. Marlys Knuth and Betty Palmer made clarifications about funding of Gummi Bears, how it is used and where the excess of $10,000, which goes to the Habitat House, is used.

Marlys Knuth attended the dedication of Habitat House in Fergus Falls this past week. She said that the city of Fergus Falls was very generous in their donation toward the house.

Rita Lear, in Lee Crowley’s absence, reported that Randy Skeate and Matt Nordquist were the recipients from the December collection. The ‘hat’ was passed for continued support of the seminarians.

Joanne Halbur passed out names for prayer partners for those receiving  First Communion and Confirmation.
