1921 – Kathryn Louise Rosenberg – 2019
Kathryn Louise Tjepkes was born December 27, 1921 the daughter of Jacob and Johanna (Heeren) Tjepkes near Canby, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Alfred Rosenberg on February 2, 1943 in Ellsworth, Minnesota. Together they farmed and raised their family in the Ellsworth area. Following Alfred’s retirement in 1973, they moved into their home in Ellsworth and Kathryn was employed at Parkview Manor and later K-Products manufacturing in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Kathryn was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and active in the Ellsworth Senior Citizen organization for many years. Kathryn loved spending time with family and was a loving mother and grandmother. Kathryn passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Parkview Manor Care Center, Ellsworth, MN, at the age of 97. An excellent cook, Kathryn will be remembered for her apple and peach pies and buttermilk brownies. Family and friends always found the coffeepot on and a cookie or bar ready for their visits with her.Their union was blessed with six children.
She is survived by her children and spouses: Larry (Betty) Rosenberg, Slayton, MN, Bruce (Judy) Rosenberg, Ellsworth, MN, Gene (Karen) Rosenberg, Luverne, MN, Joan (Larry) Wendland, Ellsworth, MN, Mary Rust,Luverne, MN, Steven (Brenda) Rosenberg, Sibley, IA; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Viola Johnson, St. Michael, MN, Marian Boltjes, Ellsworth, MN, Lorraine Newman, Sibley, IA, and Leona Geerdes, Black Duck, MN; and many nieces nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; three brothers: Luke, Martin and Harry Tjepkes; three sisters: Tina Rust, Johanna Gross, and Fannie Luitjens; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Zion Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, MN, with Rev. Paul Snyder and Rev. Deb Klaassen officiating. Burial followed at the Grand Prairie Cemetery of Ellsworth, MN.
