With Relay 2016 behind us, the teams, committee members and Honorary Chairs met at the Pizza Ranch on August 29th to close out this year’s Relay For Life.  Top 3 fundraising Teams were honored as well as 18 individuals with grand club status (individuals raising over $1,000).  The first place Team honors went to Currie raising $12,251.05 followed by MCC Student Council Team raising $10,035 and Minnwest & Friends raising an even $10,000.  Total fundraising for the event topped out at $67,549.45 net, going down in the history books as one of the top events for funds that Murray County has raised in its 21 years of sponsoring the event.

John Beech was on hand to give a very inspiring message about how important Relay for Life is and has been in his life.  John was able to utilize the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge an ACS in Rochester as he underwent treatment for his cancer.   John spent 6 weeks at Hope Lodge.  He shared with the group how important the Hope Lodge has been in his life and cancer journey.  John stated “There was so much more going on at the Hope Lodge than a free place to stay.”   The Hope Lodge became his family and also allowed him to grow and accept the plan that Christ has for his life.  John shared with the group how he met a young man there that had no family and was left to fight cancer on his own.
