Irvin Larson, the son of Oscar “Barney” and Bernice (Shea) Larson, was born on October 5, 1937 in Slayton, Minnesota. He grew up on the farm near Avoca, Minnesota and attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1957. Irv lived on the farm until 1976 when he moved into Fulda, Minnesota. He worked at Campbels Soup in Worthington, Minnesota for over 30 years. Irv passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, Minnesota at the age of 78. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. Irv was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fulda Fish and Game Club, the Fulda Historical Society and the Fulda Senior Citizen Club, where he had served as president. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique gas engines, hunting and fishing and loved historical machinery. Irv was always happy to volunteer his time to help someone out.

Survivors include his sister Joan (Robert) Killen, Eagan, MN; brother Leon (Cheri) Larson, Platteville, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Ben Larson.

Memorial services will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Killen, Marty Killen, Lindy Merritt, Julie Friedman, Beth Daniels, Andrew Larson and Jessie Larson. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.
