The Beaver Creek Archery Club of Slayton has a little bragging rights. The Club is host to not only one, but two state tournaments. The first was the first weekend in June when they were awarded the bid to those the State Target AKA 900 Round. This particular shoot is held in various locations throughout the state and Slayton was the chosen spot this year.

Shooters from all around the state who are members of the MSAA had the opportunity to participate. In all, 67 shooters from 17 different archery clubs were on hand.

The second state tournament will be this weekend when they welcome the State F.I.T.A. tournament. FITA is the archery round that is shot at the Olympic games and goes the deepest with its historical roots. The MSAA State FITA Tournament features the longest shooting of any MSAA Tournament with the longest shot at 90 meters (98.5 yards).

The MSAA holds a single day FITA (1/2 FITA) with an optional Olympic Round. The target is the 122 cm face for longer distances and the 80 cm for those nearer. FITA distances are different from standard FITA distances at the Senior, Youth, Cub, and Midget division levels.
