Senator Amy Klobuchar visited Slayton on Monday afternoon as part of her Southwest Minnesota tour. Klobuchar prides herself on visiting all 87 Minnesota counties each year as a way of staying in touch with the needs of her constituents. Her journeys took her through Jackson, Worthington, Jeffers and following her stop in Slayton, Klobuchar was headed to Pipestone.
Klobuchar’s stop in Slayton was in regards to the need for broadband in rural areas. The get together was hosted at Finley Engineering who recently completed a rural broadband feasibility study of a six-county area.
In her opening statements, Klobuchar she sympathized and realized how important broadband is in the rural areas. She mentioned the government recently dedicated $600 million to help with the broadband shortfall.
