Murray County Central’s drama team brings to its stage this week the fantastical account of Dorothy in Wonderland, a delightful amalgamation of two favorite whimsical tales: Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz.
Director Brenda Whitehead and her troupe of over forty student thespians have been rehearsing since the beginning of March and are poised to present a production that is sure to please one and all with colorful costuming, clever characterizations and spot on precision.
“I chose this particular play,” Whitehead says, “because the students we have could do well with the many different characters.” The students have been working hard and enjoying a lot of puns in this production, she adds.
On stage are many veteran actors as well as some new faces with a good mix of students ranging from the seventh through twelfth grades. “The students are making their characters come alive with expressions and actions,” the director adds.
