Meadowlands Coop is in the process of tearing down the main house of the old Avoca elevator.
According to manager Mike Trosen, the old elevator was decommissioned quite some ago following the completion of their new facility located two blocks south.
He said the strategy of Meadowlands is to take down the old building and create better aesthetics in the community as well as eliminating the safety hazard.
At this time there are no plans for the bare property and Meadowlands would be open to a possible purchase.
