1934 – Jerome“Jerry” Vincent Ehleringer – 2017
Jerry Ehleringer, the son of Vincent and Blanche (Peterson) Ehleringer, was born on September 6, 1934 in Currie, Minnesota. He was baptized at the IHM Catholic Church in Currie. He attended Dist. 78 Country School at Avoca, Minnesota and graduated from the Slayton, Minnesota High School in 1952. Jerry then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He did his Aircrew training and was later attached to Fighter Squadron 151. Jerry was united in marriage to Dolores Kuehl on November 3, 1955 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Fulda, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Alameda, California where Jerry was stationed. He served two terms on the aircraft carriers Wasp and Lexington overseas. After Jerry was discharged from active duty in 1956 and they returned to Fulda. Jerry worked at various Coops’ in the area and later took a position with Rosen Diversified Chemical, serving South Dakota and southern Minnesota for 17 years. After their retirement they remained at their home in Fulda. Jerry and Dolores enjoyed traveling to Europe, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand. They also took many cruises of the Pacific. Dolores passed away in November of 2007. Jerry passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 82. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. Jerry also belonged to the Fulda VFW and American Legion and the Worthington Elks Lodge. He also was past member of the Fulda Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and his yearly trips to northern Canada and the Northwest territories.
Survivors include his two children: Cindy (Jeff) Lutterman, Fulda, MN and Tom Ehleringer, Fulda, MN; two grandchildren: Angie (Dan Rust) Lutterman, Sioux Falls, SD and Ben Lutterman, Reading, MN; three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Mickey and Rory Rust; brother Lloyd (Judy) Ehleringer, Prior Lake, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Dolores.
Funeral services will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN. Full military honors provided by the Fulda VFW Post 9017 and American Legion Post 318. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
