1936 – Delwin James Roemer – 2017

Delwin Roemer was born on August 6, 1936 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Leonard and Lillian Yeskie Roemer.  He grew up in South St. Paul and graduated from South St. Paul High School.  Following high school Delwin work for the railroad a short time before starting work at the Ford Motor Plant.  On June 21, 1958 he and Shirley Buse were married at St. Martin’s Church in Woodstock, MN.  Following their marriage they remained in South St. Paul until 1971 when they moved to Iona, MN where they owned and operated Del’s Place.  In 1974 they sold the bar and moved to Glencoe, MN and later to St. Paul Park where Delwin drove city bus.  In 1978 they moved to Savage, MN and Delwin worked for Road Runner Delivery for a time before returning to Iona where he drove for the Plum Creek Library.  They then moved to Belle Plain, MN where he served as custodian for an apartment complex. They then returned to Shirley’s roots in Woodstock.   In 2008 Shirley passed away.  Delwin then moved to Lake Wilson, MN. On July 30, 2012 he and Kathleen Feller Lagge were married St. Rose of Lima Church in Garretson, SD.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton, MN.  Delwin passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton at the age of 81.  He was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton.  Delwin had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin, Mary.  He enjoyed time with family, fishing, square dancing, gardening especially his roses, woodworking and just being outdoors.

  Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Lagge Roemer of Slayton, MN, seven children and their spouses, Carrie and Jim Ganz of Pine Island, MN, Terry Roemer of Lake Benton, MN, Pam Roemer and Bob La Nasa of Oakdale, MN, Randy Roemer and Linda Kelly of Shakopee, MN, Troy and Sheryl Roemer of Kimball, MN, Nick and Jen Roemer of Shakopee, MN, and Brad and Michelle Roemer of Prior Lake, MN, one daughter-in-law, Colleen Roemer of Kalamazoo, MI, two step-children, Michelle Rorvick of Watertown, SD, and Jane Lundverg of Garretson, SD, 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Shirley, one son, Tony Roemer and several infant grandchildren.

  Funeral Services will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating.  The organist is Judy Andrews.  The song leader is Joanne Halbur.  The pallbearers are his grandchildren.  Interment is at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Woodstock, MN.

  Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.  To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
