Bernetta Koob – Obituary

1923 – Bernetta C. Koob – 2017

  Bernetta Koob was born on October 15, 1923 in Iona, Minnesota to Joseph and Pauline Wermerskirchen Koob. She grew up in Iona and graduated from St. Columba High School in 1941. Bernetta worked as the bookkeeper for Koob Implement Company for many years. She later managed the Slayton Service Center. In the late 1970’s she moved to Missouri where she managed a ranch. In 1983 she retired and returned to the family home in Iona. Bernetta served as caregiver to her older siblings, Aloy and Ionilla. In 2006 she moved to Westside Apartments and in 2013 Bernetta moved to Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton, Minnesota. Due to failing health in January 2017 Bernetta moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton where she passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the age of 93. She was a lifetime member of St. Columba Church in Iona where she served on the Parish Council and was past coordinator of the CCW Mission Project.

She is survived by one sister-in-law Evelyn Koob, Fulda, MN and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings: Melchior Koob, Suzanne Ottilie and her husband Howard, Ionilla Koob, Aloy Koob, Hilary “Puzzy” Koob and his wife Loretta, Cyril Koob and his wife Olivia, Quirinus Koob, Nita Thompson and her husband Edward, and Joseph Koob and his wife Ellen Koob.

  Funeral services were held at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thin Nguyen officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais.
