It’s a dog’s life is the reality for owner of new business in Murray County

At a recent county commissioner meeting Jeremy Steinle’s application to operate a dog kennel was approved.  Steinle lives north of Hadley with his wife, Melanie, and son, Logan, a student at Murray County Central.  The family has a long history of making their dogs a part of the family.  The Steinle family also includes oldest son, Austin, who enlisted in the Navy after graduation from high school.

Where will the new business be located?  Where else?  At their home!  “Currently all of our dogs live in the house with us” Steinle explained.

“We will be boarding any dogs here for training in a building that is being converted into an indoor kennel with outside dog runs.  We will also be basing our retail sales of dog food, training equipment and dog supplies from that building.”

It’s a rite of passage for children in the wide open spaces of the Midwest to have a pet, more often than not, a dog.  That was true with Steinle who has had dogs in his life since he was a little tyke.  “My dad brought home a medium sized mixed breed puppy named Windsor when I was three,” he explained.   “He lived to be 18 and one of my favorite pictures is of my son Austin playing with Windsor when he was little.”

Through the years Steinle has called different breeds “my dog” but has always had an interest in German Shorthaired Pointers.  His ‘interest’ turned more serious about nine years ago.  “I’ve been planning this for quite a while,” he said of the new business venture, which by the way is called Aspen Hill Gun Dogs.
