1930 – Marie C. Schwebach – 2017
Marie Mihin was born on a farm in Lowville Township near Hadley, Minnesota on June 6, 1930 to Frank and Minnie (Eichhorn) Mihin. She moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota with her family in 1945, graduating from Cathedral High School in 1947. She worked as a secretary at Morrells in Sioux Falls. She married Jerome “Pete” Schwebach on October 11, 1952. In 1960 they started Schwebach Insurance and Real Estate where she worked until 2015. Marie genuinely loved helping people find homes and insurance. She always had time for a story, and promoted Dell Rapids with a passion. She prayed daily for the well-being of everyone. She loved her family. Family was everything to her. She is eager to get to the table Pete reserved for them near the dance floor in Heaven. Marie passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 86 after a gracious battle with ALS.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (Brad) Wallenberg, Sioux Falls, SD; her sons: Tim, Dell Rapids, SD; Rob (Lynn) Fort Collins, CO; Jeff (Denise), Sioux falls, SD and Tom (Tami), Dell Rapids, SD ; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Dolores Mihin and Rita Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete in 2011; and her grandson Jacob; siblings: Douglas Mihin, Doris Hruby, John “Jack” Mihin and Viola Muckler.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 6, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids, SD with Father Gregory Tschakert and Father John Lantsberger officiating. Organist was Carla Schmidt, soloist was Bette Huss. Casket bearers were her grandchildren; Interment in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Dell Rapids, SD. Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids, SD was entrusted with arrangements.
